Obama vs McCain Tax Proposals:
…the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center concluded that in contrast to Mr. McCain, “Senator Obama offers much larger tax breaks to low- and middle-income taxpayers and would increase taxes on high-income taxpayers.”
The study said, “The largest tax cuts, as a share of income, would go to those at the bottom of the income distribution,” whereas “Senator McCain’s tax cuts would primarily benefit those with very high incomes.” NY Times article. L. Rother. June, 2008.

The ‘Base of America’:
How often have we heard the term ‘base’ used during this presidential campaign? Undoubtedly you have heard ‘base’ spoken to the right side of republican. Well it is past time to use ‘the base’ in its proper place… preceding ’of America’. The base of America is the Middle Class. With a struggling Middle Class so goes America.
The great United States has been in economic decline for the past 8 years. The morbidly obese deficit is constantly being fed from the repercussions of an inept top-down Bush tax policy. America’s base is bleeding out with no one to apply pressure. Bush’s tax cuts helped the millionaire multi-home owners like his hopeful republican predecessor. Corporations have swelled to the beat of a drum only heard by the rich, the connected, and the elite. Sadly, it is this wealthiest top 1% of America who Bush and McCain represent.
McCain’s tax plan is another 4 years of Bush. The families with wives who can afford a $280,000 pair of earrings will more than make do, in fact they will continue to thrive. To the lucky few, 7 homes will become 8. To the unfortunate most, 3 meals will become 2. Under a continued Bush/McCain tax plan many families who work 2 or 3 jobs will continue in their struggle to simply scrape by. More and more families will fear not for the war in Iraq but in how they will provide food, shelter, healthcare and an education for their children.
The base of America is flat lining and it is beyond time to scream clear. For those of you making over $603,403 per year and vote for your ‘base’ we understand. More money is more money. Another house is another house. For those making under $603,403 per year, we have a decision to make come November… more for the few or more for the most.
